“Let your light so shine before others that they may see your good works” (Matthew 5:16)

Residential Experiences

It is  a fundamental principle at Beaconside, that all of our Key Stage two children have the opportunity to participate and enjoy a wide range of residential opportunities. These enable children to see the wider world, provide new experiences, develop social and emotional relationships and equip them with the skills to go out into the world responsibly. The length of stay, distance from school and experiences completed are appropriate to the age of the children. All of our Year 4, 5 & 6, the children are able to take place in residential trips.

Year 4 - The children will experience their first residential and for some children, their first nights away from home.  Previous locations have included The Sill on Hadrian's Wall.

Year 5 - This trip is a chance for children to take part in many activities outside.  Previous locations have been Glaramara and Kingswood outward bounds centres. They experience hill-walking, ghyll scrambling, coracle building, archery, climbing and abseiling, facilitated by the experienced staff at the centre.

Year 6 - The children experience the sights and sounds of a city visit. Sometimes we go to London, other times it's Edinburgh. In both locations, they enjoy walking around the capital's main attractions. Activities in London include visits to The Tower of London, The Science Museum, The Natural History Museum, The Golden Hinde (Sir Francis Drake's ship), The London Eye and a River Cruise, in addition to seeing a top West End show.
