Children will build on their learning from year 1 with history led projects on influential people from the past such as Amelia Earhart and Valentina Tereshkova as part of significant events in history. the chidrden will learn about more women who have impacted history by studying JK Rowling, Margaret Thatcher and Alex Scott in the Spring term. Children will build on their Year 1 learning in geography by learning more about Cumbria but this time comparing it with Kenya- particularly making direct comparisons in agriculture. Children will again learn about landmarks but this time looking a lot further afield. The Summer term will be packed with outdoor learning opportunities culminating in a residential to Windermere where they will see a different part of the Lake District and visit Beatrix Potter world. Other visits in this year include the Solway Aviation Museum, Lakeland Wildlife Park and the first of the children's outdoor pursuits- a trip bouldering at Eden Rock. Children will be joined in school by experts from the world of RAF and a wheelchair basketball champion - giving the children an opportunity to experience basketball in this way.
