We love working together, investigating and being curious.

Admissions:

Please contact the school office if you would like an application form or see the link below.  The closing dates for admissions are as follows:

September intake - 31st March

January intake - 30th September

April intake - 31st January

Places for each intake will only be allocated after the closing date has passed.  Parents/carers and their children will then be invited to a settling-in session where you will get further information.

Home visits:

Before your child starts nursery, we visit your child at home.  This visit is usually no more than 30 minutes long and enables your child to talk and play with the Nursery Teacher in a familiar environment. We believe home visits help children to settle more quickly once they start Nursery.

Clothing:

Children should come to Nursery dressed in comfortable and practical clothing that enables them to be as independent as possible when using the toilet or dressing after PE.  Children have the option to wear a Nursery sweatshirt or cardigan embroidered with our Acorn Nursery logo.  These can be purchased from either Lakeland Embroidery or Sam Scott's in Penrith.

Please ensure that these are clearly named to help us ensure that children go home with their own clothes!  We encourage children to play and learn outside in all but the most severe weather so it's important that children come to Nursery with appropriate outdoor coats.  We do have spare wellies and waterproofs for very wet days.

Beaconside School offers Nursery places for 3 & 4 year olds, our opening hours are 8.45am – 3.30pm. You can use your free 15 or 30 hours entitlement and top up at just £4 per hour.  Lunches are available at a small supplement.

Our Nursery can offer children up to 5 x 6 hr sessions per week from the term after their 3rd birthday, providing we have spaces.

Our Nursery offers morning and afternoon sessions, and can be flexible on how many sessions per week you choose to apply for if you wish to use some of your child’s free entitlement at a private day nursery.

Nursery children can also access our school Breakfast Club from 7.45am and After-school club until 5.30pm for an additional fee. Please email or telephone the school office for more information, contact details can be found at the bottom of this page.
