Parent Forums

Tuesday 20th January 2016

We had our first forum of the year which was well attended by staff, parents and some special visitors from Year 6. Accompanied by Miss Short, the children from the school council delivered an informative presentation, sharing their experiences of life as school council members and as sports leaders and playground ‘ buddies'. The students spoke with confidence and enthusiasm about their responsibilities to teach games to the younger children at playtime and we were all delighted to hear how their work has had a harmonious effect on playtime behaviour. The ‘buddy' system will be ongoing as the year six pupils will train up the current year five children to fill their shoes when they move on.

Next, parents,  and the children who were present thought about the wider issues our children could think about as a community. These included sustainability (green issues), Britain today (multi-cultural issues), personal health and well-being, and personal safety and safeguarding.

We then all had an opportunity to look at how the school website is evolving and parents all agreed how useful the events calendar was and how much we liked the curriculum maps showing termly plans for each year group. New photographs, showing off our amazing school grounds, will soon be added to the home page.

Finally, parents were asked to sign up to 'Parent View' to complete a short survey online at https://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/.

If you have not yet attended a parent forum then please do join us at the next meeting. It is a great way to find out more about the school, share your views and ideas and you even get a free cup of coffee!
