Our School Governors

 

Mr Nick Page 

Nick is headteacher and joined the school in September 2016.  He has over 17 years experience in education and has previously been Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Head Teacher and Headteacher in schools in London, Surrey and Carlisle. Nick and his family moved to Cumbria in 2010 and enjoys spending time with his family in the lakes.

Mrs Judith Markey

I have been a governor both at Beaconside Infant School and the Primary School for 12 years and have been Chair for the last 8.  I am also on the Curriculum, Finance & premises and Staffing Committees too.  I was a primary school teacher all my working life, both in the UK and overseas, with experience in EYFS, KS1 and KS2.  I also spent 2 years as a Primary Geography Advisor in Cambridgeshire.  I have been both a parent-governor and teacher-governor in the past.  In retirement I am keen to help the next generation of children and teachers through my role at Beaconside.

Rev. David Sargeant (Foundation Governor)

David has been a governor in his role of Team Rector of the Penrith Ministry for 11 years, both for Beaconside Infants and then amalgamated Beaconside Primary School.  Two of his three children went through Beaconside, the third starting at UCC when the family moved to Penrith.  David is particularly intrested in how we understand and nuture the distinctive Christian ethos of the school and how that isexpressed in every aspect of our community life.  away from work he is happy to be on the fells with his spaniels.

 

Mrs Lisa Ivinson

As a professional within a public sector organisation Lisa has experience of leadership and management of financial budgets.  In 2015 Lisa was elected as a parent governor and supports the Governing Body and the School by focusing on Finance, School Leadership and Early Years.  Lisa has lived locally all her life and has a keen interest in ensuring that the Governing Body continue to support the School to develop and is passionate that all pupils are provided with a consistent and enriched education.  Outside of her Governor responsibilities Lisa is a mother to three boys who are all pupils at Beaconside and works full-time as an ICT Project Manager.

Ms Andrea Bargett

Andrea has been a governor at Beaconside Primary School for 2 years and currently has two children attending the school and one who has recently moved on to secondary school.  having been a primary school teacher for fifteen years she has a keen interest in curriculum issues and enjoys being involved in the school community.  Her favourite subject is English and her love of books led her naturally into the role of  governor for phonics and reading. 

Mr Charlie Thornton

Charlie has over 20 years experience of working with private and public sector spheres of tourism around the UK and he is able to share a variety of management and communication skills with the life of the school governing body.  His current job sees him actively promoting the Eden area as a tourism destination through his role as Tourism Development Officer with Eden District Council.  He lives with his family in Penrith and his two children attend Beaconside school.  Outside of work his family are actively involved in Penrith Methodist Church along with a range of other community organisationsAs a governor, he values the opportunity to bring his management and communication skills into the life and work of the governing body and play an active part bin its ongoing work.

 

 

 

Mr Eric Lamb

 

 

Mrs Karoline Rose

Karoline has been a governor at Beaconside for 5 years, starting out when her older daughter was in year 1.  She joined the governing body as a foundation governor and sees part of her role as ensuring the christian ethos of the school is developed and runs through all areas of school life.  Karoline is link governor for safeguarding and inclusion and in that role works together with the school to ensure the safeguarding needs of the school are effective and up to date.  She has experience in this area through her work in a pre-school nursery and studies in social work.

Mrs Hazel Miller

Hazel (Foundation Governor) is serving a second term as governor.  She sits on the Finance and Premises Committee.  Her previous work includes fabric, maintenance and health and Safety aspects of a building/work force/visitors can be applied to the school.  She currently has a child in year 5 who has attended the school since Acorn Nursery.
