They will get to see some of the landmarks they studied earlier in their school life first hand when they visit London as part of an Autumn term residential. Here they will visit the London Eye as well as St. Paul's Cathedral. In the second half of the Autumn term, they will learn about World War 2 and, in particular, how it impacted the local area. In the Spring term, the children will learn about natural disasters near and afar- First focusing on tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanos with Japan being used a country to base learning upon. The children will then learn about flooding and how that has impacted the local area. This will include learning how Cumbria is trying to prevent this happening again with a visit to Swindale Beck and learning about the Re-meandering project they have undertaken. The children will conclude their learning where they have spent so much time- in the outdoors and in the Lake District, They will learn about the importance of the Air Ambulance and mountain rescue to the area as well as experiencing paddle boarding and ghyll scrambling.
