Within Year 3 the children will learn about local history by taking a step back in time and learning all about the Border Wars- this will include a visit to Brougham castle where they will see one of the Clifford family castles used to protect invasions from the Scots. The children will learn explore the rivers and mountains within the Lake district and begin to compare them with other parts of the world. The children will finish their year with a depth study on the Late Neolithic Period. This will give them an opportunity to "live like cavemen" through an on-site camping and caveman experience.  The children will also get the opportunity to go on hike around part of Derwent water as well as canoe raft on it! The children will have learning enriched by a Diwali workshop, a trip to Upfront Gallery and also a visit to Castlerigg stone circle. he children will begin refining their culinary techniques by designing a stew which can be enjoyed around the campfire.
