Safeguarding

Safeguarding | St Barnabas Primary School, A Church of England Academy

At Beaconside we take safeguarding seriously and have a number of measures in place to ensure the safety in all aspects of all our children, families and staff.

What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding is the action that is taken at Beaconside C of E School to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.

  •  Protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
  •  Preventing harm to children’s health or development
  •  Ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care

We can talk with children and parents/carers about anything that is bothering them. We can also support in school with pastoral support.

Our safeguarding Team:

At Beaconside C of E Primary school we have a range of people that can help our families and children when there is safeguarding and pastoral support needed.

Mrs Sara Prickett is our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). Her role in school is to keep our families and young people safe each day.

Mrs Polly Cudby and Miss Emma Short are the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSL's).

How to raise a safeguarding concern?

If you have a safeguarding concern relating to a child in school, please contact the school by telephone or email. A member of the school’s safeguarding team will respond to your concern.

Phone number: 01768 840868

Email: @beaconside.cumbria.sch.uk

If you have a safeguarding concern about a child outside of school or within the wider community, please contact the Safeguarding Hub directly so that your concern can be reported to the appropriate team.

Our Pastoral Team:

Mrs Prickett leads the pastoral team and works with Mrs Chelsey Barkworth. Mrs Barkworth supports families and young people by making phone calls, meeting families and running Famiy Helps.

Mrs Prickett and Mrs Barkworth also support other vulnerable families including children in care, those that need financial support and others who may need additional support and link them with external agencies where needed.

How our help can look for our families?

We acknowledge that families will need different support at different times. We will talk and consult with our families on how we can best support them and what this support will look like.

We use the Continuum of Need provided by Westmorland and Furness Safeguarding hub to assess each family and decide what support can be given.
