Miss Sarah Bowers
Senior Teaching Assistant:
Mrs Angela Chubb
We are a Local Authority Nursery run as part of Beaconside C of E Primary School and therefore are only open during the School Term, but usually start a week after school in September to allow for home visits to be made and close a day earlier than school for the Christmas, Easter and Summer Holidays.
Our Nursery can offer children up to 5 x 3 hr sessions per week from the term after their 3rd birthday providing we have spaces.
Our nursery mostly offers either morning or afternoon sessions, but can be flexible on how many sessions per week you choose to apply for if you wish to use some of your child’s free entitlement at a private day nursery.
We do also offer a limited number of full day places. Please contact us to check availability.
Please contact the school office if you would like an application form. The closing dates for admissions are as follows:
September intake - 31st March
January intake - 30th September
April intake - 31st January
Places for each intake will only be allocated after the closing date ha passed. Parents/carers and their children will then be invited to a "stay and play" session where you will get further information.
Before your child starts nursery, we visit your child at home. This visit is usually no more than 30 minutes long and enables your child to talk and play with the Nursery Teacher in a familiar environment. We believe home visits help children to settle more quickly once they start Nursery.
Children should come to Nursery dressed in comfortable and practical clothing that enables them to be as independent as possible when using the toilet or dressing after PE. Children have the option to wear a Nursery sweatshirt or cardigan embroidered with our Acorn Nursery logo. These can be purchased from either Lakeland Embroidery or Sam Scott's in Penrith.
Please ensure that these are clearly named to help us unsure that children go home with their own clothes! We encourage children to play and learn outside in all but the most severe of weathers so it s important that children come to Nursery with outdoor coats appropriate to the weather. We do have spare wellies and waterproofs for very wet days.
