Music at Beaconside
All pupils from Reception to Year 6 are taught music in a separate music room by a specialist music teacher. We are very fortunate in having a music room not only equipped with the usual sets of xylophones, glockenspiels and percussion instruments but also with class sets of recorders and ukuleles.
Beaconside School also offer children an opportunity to develop their musical talents outside the curriculum by taking part in an variety of extra-curricular activities (see below).
Instrument lessons for 2016 - 17 taught through Cumbria Music Service to Years 4, 5 & 6
Flute, clarinet & saxophone: Fridays from 10 am - Mrs Tuffin
Violin and cello: Thursday from 10.30 - Mr Beeby
Guitar: Friday from 2.10 - Mr Haythornthwaite
Keyboard: Friday from 12.00 - Mr Bartholomew
Brass : Friday from 11 a.m.- Mr Bartholomew

Each Wednesday, as the children enter and leave the hall for Collective Worship, they are treated to live music performed by talented pupils and staff.
James and Joshua, on French horn, Amara on a German trumpet and Salim and Millie on cornet played 'The Guns of Navarone.
The Year 6 guitar group played' I Love Rock and Roll'
and the year 4/5 group played 'Another Dime'
Grace and Sofia started the new term with their solo singing.

The Hand bell group had a 'dress-rehearsal' for their appearance at the Carlisle Music Festival next |Monday. How will they do? Watch this space .......

The singing club and orchestra spent an afternoon at Rheged with 8 other schools.
The orchestra gave a performance of 'In The Hall of the Mountain King' alongside children from U.C.C.
The singing club joined with the other schools in singing various compositions by Jilly Jarman
